Daz Studio 4.6 - Octane Render
I'm using Octane in my work more and more everyday. Each opportunity allows me to learn how to optimize my scenes regarding geometry, the amount of textures or materials. This scene was actually the background for a project I just completed for work. I've decided to add a couple elements to change it completely.
I'm still impressed by Octane. Sure, being limited by the amount of video memory is somehow limiting but now I have two 4GB cards, things are a lot easier
But, bing able to check something real close to the end result in a couple seconds is amazing. Quite hard to get back to your regular renderer after that...
BTW, just reached my four thousandth image for Daz ( yes, you read it right: 4000th image done . At 30 frames per second, that's more than two minutes of film

I'm using the Daz Studio / Octane plugin:
You get all the necessary information like available memory, number of textures used and available and the plugin handles the materials conversion itself. The plugin is really well done and the next version wil be even better.
You can do everything from Studio itself and unlike Reality, the plugin is using a regular Studio tab ( which means tools like material selection work ).
If you haven't used Octane before be sure to have a recent Nvidia card with lots of memory. I used to have a 1.2GB card and I was really limited in what I could achieve. Since then, I moved to a GTX 770 4GB SLI and it's a completely different work environment. And cards older than the 6XX/7XX generations are more limited regarding the max amount of textures you can use.
Feel free to drop me a line if you have any question.
